Iranian Film Festival in Coimbatore

 

An Iranian Film Festival was organized in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in association with Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore and Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation, Chennai with the support of Culture House of the I.R. of Iran in Mumbai in which 6 Iranian films participated.

The inauguration of the Iranian Film Festival was attended by professors, students and Iranian culture enthusiasts. The chief guest for the event Mr. Vasanath, who is a renowned Tamil film maker, passionate writer and national award jury member, expressed his delight at being present at this event and said: “Film festivals are places where audiences get exposed to the culture, art and beliefs of other people through screens. Today, the seventh art plays an important role among people from various strata in all cultures. “

Referring to his life experience in cinema he said: “In the field of cinema, thoughts and ideas are transformed from pen and paper to camera and screen and thus the seventh art is able to create a good platform for deep connections between cultures and people. Even with all the limitations, Iranian cinema has been able to showcase exemplary works to the global community. I hope that this film festival helps us considerably in learning more about the culture of Iran and strengthen the friendly relations between the two eastern countries. “

Next, Secretary of Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation, Chennai, Mr. Thangaraj expressed his pleasure at being present at this festival and said: “In the field of culture and art, cinema is a very expressive language for conveying content to the audience and building ones culture. In order to succeed in this industry, we need to address both value and ethical issues as well as social and economic issues."

He went on the thank Culture House of the I.R. of Iran in Mumbai and said: “Culture House of Iran organizing such festivals indicates the resolve of Iran to expand cultural relations between Iran and India.”

The principal of Hindusthan College of Arts and Science and the head of the Department of Visual Communication were also present at this festival.

In this festival, 6 Iranian movies were screened namely ‘Zero to Podium’, ’Hush! Girls Don’t Scream’, ‘Mobarak’, ‘We have a guest’,  ‘Ranna’s Silence’ and ‘Season of Narges’. It is worth mentioning that around 450 people attended this festival.
