A visit to a Shia orphanage in Lonavala

Director of Culture House of the I.R. of Iran in Mumbai and Mr. Toosi along with a group of donors visited a Shia orphanage located in Lonavala which is renowned by the name of Anjuman-e-Alamdar-e-Husaini and spoke with the authorities and orphans of that orphanage with the aim of providing necessary aid and assistance to Muslim orphans especially Shias.

Director of Culture House of the I.R. of Iran in Mumbai expressed his pleasure at being present at the orphanage and said: “Teaching and upbringing have been one of the most important goals of the Holy Prophets so that people are able to achieve perfection and accomplish their purpose of creation. Philosophers and scholars as well as followers of materialistic and atheistic school of thoughts have spoken about teaching and upbringing using their own method and point of view. Upbringing means raising and eliminating barriers on the path to perfection for ones talent to flourish. Establishing orphanages for guardian-less children provides an appropriate environment for the upbringing and teaching of children.”

Referring to the assistance needed to help the orphanage, he stated: “One of the social phenomena is the issue of orphans. In the Holy Quran and in various Islamic narrations, great emphasis is placed upon the way of behaving with orphans. Our Imams and religious thinkers regard guardianship of an orphan child as the best and most admirable action. They guide and encourage believers in doing so in order to not have even a single homeless orphan in the Islamic society and to fulfil all their wishes.”

The Director of Culture House of the I.R. of Iran continued: “Today I am delighted to witness a virtuous deed and I hope that the assistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran through Culture House greatly helps the growth and development of Shiite children. This orphanage is capable of expanding and further improving its current standing and by spreading awareness to donors it will be able to grow and provide job opportunities for the orphans. Setting up various programmes in this place will lead to the happiness of the children and will also create a cheerful and pleasant environment for the nurturing of these dear children.”

It is worth mentioning that this orphanage was bought 26 years ago by an Iranian cleric, who currently lives in Kuwait,  and is managed by an Indian. This orphanage also has an active branch in the city of Lucknow. Jointly, they shelter 350 orphan families and monthly allowance is also paid to the orphans.
